Faith Bible Church was started as a home Bible Study in 1981 with a group of believers yearning for a deeper understanding of the Word of God. As this Bible Study group continued to grow, the decision was made to begin holding Sunday morning services and by 1983, the church was meeting at Turbett Grange Hall. During the next 10 years, the church continued to grow and began to provide children’s church and Sunday School classes. Throughout this time, the church was under the leadership of Pastor Richard Burchfield. One of the church members, Dennis Seiler felt the call to become a pastor and went to study at Dallas Theological Seminary. After graduating, Dennis returned to take over the position of Pastor at Faith Bible Church. Through this time, the church continued to strengthen its spiritual foundation. As the Lord continued to bless the ministry of Faith Bible Church, it was soon evident that more room would be needed. The church purchased ground at the end of 4th street in Port Royal along the Tuscarora Creek. The fellowship broke ground in 1992 and the new church building was begun. Each member gave of their time and talents; brick layers, electricians, carpenters, stone masons, woodworkers, painters, and helping hands. God’s faithfulness was continually shown as the members came together to work and build, brick by brick, the physical foundation of Faith Bible Church. Services were held in the basement of the new church building starting in 1993 while the sanctuary was completed. The dedication service for the completed building was held on Easter Sunday of 1995. The Faith Bible Church family has seen God’s faithful hand of blessing over the last 35 years. It is the church’s desire to remain faithful to God’s unchanging Word while carrying the message of God’s love to the world.
